Flying between Malaysia and India this winter? The map just shifted

The winter 2026–27 flight map between Malaysia and India has changed — one low-cost long-haul route is gone, the big routes stay strong, and Malaysia Airlines keeps growing. Here's who flies where, and how we'll find you the right routing.

If you fly between Malaysia and India, the route map for the winter season has just shifted — and it is worth knowing before you book. One long-haul budget route has been dropped, a few carriers are holding firm, and Malaysia Airlines is quietly growing. Here is the lay of the land for winter 2026–27, and how we will make sure you end up on the right flight.

What's changed for winter 2026–27

The headline change: AirAsia X, the long-haul low-cost arm, has pulled Kuala Lumpur–Delhi from its schedule this month. If you have flown that route before, that is the one to note. The good news is that Delhi is far from cut off — the city stays well served, just by different airlines.

Kuala Lumpur to Delhi: still nonstop

Nonstop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi continue with Malaysia Airlines, Air India and Batik Air Malaysia. Between them there is still a healthy spread of departure times and hundreds of thousands of seats across the season, so the route itself is in no danger. The choice is simply about which airline, fare and timing suits you best.

AirAsia still flies to nine Indian cities

Away from Delhi, AirAsia is keeping a wide Indian network for winter 2026–27 — nonstop from Kuala Lumpur to nine cities: Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirappalli. For South India, Punjab or a family visit, there is almost certainly a direct option near you.

Malaysia Airlines keeps growing

The other side of the story is growth. Malaysia Airlines now runs around 80 flights a week to 10 Indian cities through its Kuala Lumpur hub, and carried close to a million passengers between India and Malaysia in the first half of this year — about 10 per cent more than a year earlier. More flights and a strong hub mean better connections onward into Malaysia, Borneo and the wider Asia-Pacific.

Why this is where we come in

Here is the honest bit. When the route map moves, the cheapest-looking fare on a screen is not always the trip you actually want. A dropped route can mean an awkward connection, a long layover, or a fare that looks good until you add bags, seats and a visa. Working out the best real routing — the right airline, the right connection through Kuala Lumpur, the India visa or OCI, and the ground arrangements — is exactly what a travel agent is for.

Let us find your routing

That has been our job since 1994. Tell us where in India you are headed, or where in Malaysia you are flying from, and we will find the routing that makes sense: the flights and the best connection, the visa, the hotels and the little add-ons, all under one roof and all handled by people you can actually talk to. The map may have shifted, but the trip stays simple when we plan it. Tell us your dates and leave the rest to us.
