IndiGo — India's big blue 6E — has refreshed its onboard menu for November: sandwiches served three ways, hot Super Bowls, collectible-tin munchies and a full bar. Here's what caught our eye, plus the one tip worth knowing before you fly.
A small, happy thing for anyone flying across India soon: IndiGo — India's big blue 6E — has refreshed its onboard menu for November, and it's a good one. The airline leans into food that travels well and tastes like somewhere real — "the best possible taste at cruising altitude", as they put it. Here's what caught our eye.
Three ways to do a sandwich
The headline is the sandwiches, served three ways. IndiGo Classics are the signature sandwiches in that pretty marble bread. Chef's Choice steps it up with gourmet sandwiches handpicked by the chefs. And Local Hits brings the rolls and bites that taste like home — the kind of thing you'd actually crave. Something for a quick bite or a proper tuck-in.
Super Bowls and munchies
If a sandwich won't do it, the Super Bowls are hot, ready-to-eat meals that come with a drink — Poha, Dal Chawal, Rava Upma, and veg or chicken noodles, each ready in a few minutes. For something lighter, the Munchies arrive in IndiGo's iconic collectible tins, sweet or savoury, also with a drink. There's a full bar, too, and the usual run of hot and cold drinks: masala tea, cappuccino, spiced buttermilk, fresh juices.
The bit worth knowing before you fly
Two practical notes. First, you can pre-book your meal on IndiGo's website before you fly — made-to-order dishes with seasonal ingredients, and it saves you choosing while hungry at 35,000 feet. Second, the timing rules: on very short hops (under 30 minutes) only pre-booked snacks are served, and hot food and drinks come on flights over an hour. So on a quick domestic leg, pre-booking is the move.
Flying IndiGo across India? Leave the planning to us
We mention all this because so many of our India trips include an IndiGo leg — it's the easiest way to hop between Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Kerala, Kashmir and everywhere in between. If India's on your mind, let us put the whole thing together: the international flights, the IndiGo connections, the visa or OCI, the hotels and the ground arrangements, all under one roof. You just turn up hungry — and now, at least, you'll eat well. Tell us where in India you're dreaming of, and we'll handle the rest.
